Overview of the resorts of the Aegean coast of Turkey. Which resort to choose for active sports? Which resort to choose for a beach holiday? Which resort to choose for a quiet holiday?
At the end of May, we were lucky to visit the Aegean coast of Turkey. We have carefully studied its main resorts – Fethiye, Kusadasi, Marmaris and Bodrum , and we want to share with you useful information about where, who and why should go on vacation to these beautiful places!
Features of the Aegean coast of Turkey
First of all, this is a completely different climate, it is much drier here, so it is much more comfortable to relax here in the hot summer months.
- In July and August, the air temperature is around 30 degrees, and the water warms up to 24-25, a light refreshing breeze always blows from the sea
- The main contingent of vacationers here are Europeans, there are still very few Russian-speaking tourists here, however, as well as staff in hotels. Therefore, a minimum knowledge of English is welcome.
- Well, without a doubt – just a chic excursion program for every taste, and at the same time without long journeys, pleasantly complements the rest of tourists
Now let’s talk about the resorts themselves.
Fethiye
Perhaps the most picturesque resort on the coast, surprisingly clean and secluded. It is conditionally divided into 2 parts – Fethiye itself and the small village of Oludeniz, with an incredibly beautiful bay, which is a symbol of this region.
- The resort was chosen by lovers of paragliding – these are flights on a paragliding wing, both with and without an instructor. So lovers of outdoor activities are provided with an adrenaline rush!
- The beaches here are mostly sandy, not very wide.
- The resort is suitable for a relaxing family holiday, couples and the elderly
Young people who want an active nightlife, bars and discos are likely to be bored. Only if paragliding is not a mandatory item in their holiday program.
Marmaris
If you live according to the principle “There is never too much fun”, then you should visit the Turkish Ibiza – the city of Marmaris. This city is very European, located in a beautiful bay.
- Marmaris is suitable for young people and those who need a hotel just to drop their things and spend the night
- Many hotels here offer “breakfast and dinner” meals and their price is quite democratic – this option gives a lot of communication, fun, new meetings and acquaintances and a complete feeling of one’s own youth and energy
- For family tourists with children, we advise you to pay attention to the pretty suburb of never sleeping Marmaris Icmeler
This cozy village, with small houses, gardens, sandy beaches without waves, is perfect for families with kids. Most of the hotels located in Icmeler operate on an All Inclusive basis.
Kusadasi
This resort (which, by the way, is one of the oldest in Turkey) perfectly combines everything you need to relax:
- a chic excursion program without long journeys;
- good hotels of any category;
- clean sea;
- high level of service and lack of fuss and crowds of people.
It is also called “Pigeon Island” – because of a small island in the center of the city, on which the symbol of the city – the fortress – is located. In general, this picturesque and green resort is suitable for a quality holiday for all categories of tourists who are looking for privacy and peace.
Bodrum
A city that just struck me with how different it is from the rest of Turkey. Here, as nowhere else, the influence of Greece is felt – white two-story houses located on the slopes – this panorama remains in memory for a long time.
- When choosing a hotel, you need to carefully pay attention to the beach, there may be some nuances
- Many beaches are artificial concrete platforms.
- There are small beaches with loose sand, pebble areas, which are accessed by steps or an elevator.
Bodrum is also the center of the region’s nightlife, so we can safely recommend it for youth recreation, especially the village of Gumbet. For families with children, it is better to consider hotels in the village of Torba – here are the best, by the standards of Bodrum, beaches. Due to the frequent winds, the resort is also a good place for fans of surfing and other water sports. If you choose the right hotel, then Bodrum can be recommended to absolutely all tourists.
