The picturesque landscapes and landscapes of Cyprus are what have attracted many travelers to the island for thousands of years. We invite you to see the most beautiful places in Cyprus.

The landscapes of Cyprus amaze with their originality and diversity. Southern Cyprus is rocks and a clear sea, Northern Cyprus is a green fairy tale. But even in Southern Cyprus you can find islands of greenery: the Troodos mountain range with old villages and the ancient monastery of Kykkos and the Akamas nature reserve are perhaps the most picturesque places in Cyprus.

Beautiful places in Southern Cyprus

Southern Cyprus is famous for its seascapes, the first thing that comes to mind, of course, is the famous Aphrodite’s Stone, or Petra tou Romiou. An absolutely charming place – white rocks form a strict but attractive landscape. Petra tou Romiou can rightfully be called the most beautiful seascape of Cyprus.

At the same time, the Troodos Mountains attract many travelers from all over the world with both their amazing landscapes and attractions. In the mountains, among the cool pine forests, hide fabulous old villages with snow-white houses – Lefkara, Fini, Omodos, Pedoulas, Moutoulas, Zygi. Each village is famous for some kind of craft – for example, Lefkara is famous for lace, and Omodos is famous for winemaking. There are also many monasteries and temples here, the most famous of which is the Kykkos Monastery, where the oldest miraculous icon of the Mother of God, painted during her lifetime by the Apostle Luke, is kept.

Traveling to the Troodos Mountains by car or bicycle, you will experience incomparable pleasure from the landscapes of Cyprus. However, you can also conquer the mountain range on foot: in Troodos there are several routes for hiking enthusiasts.

On the Akamas Peninsula you can also get around both by car and on foot. The so-called Akamas jeep safaris are popular among tourists.

Akamas is an almost untouched corner of Cyprus, home to endemic plants and many species of animals. The reserve is protected by UNESCO and is famous as one of the most picturesque places in Cyprus. The peninsula is an ideal place for hiking, and there is no one to disturb you from admiring the impressive scenery of Cyprus. You can walk the Aphrodite Trail or see the critically endangered green turtles at Lara Bay.

Beautiful places in Northern Cyprus

The nature of Northern Cyprus is somewhat different from the nature of Southern Cyprus – there is a sharper change in landscapes: semi-steppe turns into mountains, and rocky shores give way to plantations. The diversity of flora and fauna attracts numerous tourists here.

In addition, behind the “green line” after 1974, when Cyprus was divided into South and North, there were many historical monuments: Bellapais Abbey, St. Hilarion Castle, Buffavento Castle, Famagusta, Salamis, Soli… And all this is complemented by the stunning landscapes of Cyprus! It is not surprising that travelers, despite the difficulties, strive to get to Northern Cyprus. Here you can also see one of the most picturesque places in Cyprus – the Kyrenia Mountains and Pentadaktylos.

Unfortunately, now, in order to get to the northern part of Cyprus and appreciate its landscapes, you have to cross the buffer zone. Northern Cyprus is now occupied by the Turks, who have so far proclaimed the unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by no one except Turkey.
