Useful information for those traveling to Montenegro: how to get from/to Tivat airport by bus, taxi and car, as well as how to find the bus stop and how much it costs to travel by public transport and taxi.
Tivat Airport is a small Montenegrin airport located just 4 km from the city of the same name. It is also called the “air gateway of the Adriatic”, since it is the one that most often receives charter flights from all over the world. The nearest resorts are Budva (20 km) and Kotor (7 km).
You can get from Tivat Airport to the resorts in the following ways:
- by bus;
- by taxi;
- by car.
Read below for more details about each option.
Tivat Airport: how to get there by bus
The bus is the cheapest way to get from/to Tivat airport. Buses do not go directly to/from the airport – they are passing. How to find a stop? You need to go out onto the highway, which runs about 100 meters from the airport, and go left, towards Tivat, another 100 meters. When you see two yellow “mushrooms”, you know that this is a stop. Wait for the bus and stop when you see it. You can also just go out onto the highway and catch a bus. The main thing is to go in the right direction! If you need to get to Budva, Ulcinj, Bar, Podgorica and Kotor, get at the stop on the airport side. If in Tivat, Perast or Herceg Novi, then cross to the other side of the road. And be sure to ask the driver if he is going to the city you need. Please remember that buses run approximately every 30 minutes. The fare is approximately 2 euros.
Accordingly, all buses that go from Budva, Ulcinj, Bar, Podgorica and Kotor to Tivat pass by the airport – you just need to ask the driver to stop near the airport.
Another way is to get on the highway and go left 800 meters to the Tivat bus station, and then take a bus to the desired resort.
Tivat Airport: how to get there by taxi
You can, of course, get to/from Tivat airport by taxi – there is no shortage of them. You can either pick up a taxi on the spot or order it in advance .
The cost of a taxi at the airport is approximately the following: start – 0.5 euros, 1 km – 0.8 euros. A taxi to Budva and Kotor will cost approximately 20 euros, but in high season taxi drivers can greatly inflate the price. We recommend using the meter. A taxi to Sveti Stefan, Perast and Rafailovici costs approximately 25 euros, to Petrovac – 30 euros, to Sutomore and Bar – 40-45 euros, to Herceg Novi – approximately 50 euros. Prices may vary depending on company and season.
The best option, perhaps, would be to pre-order a car of the class and capacity you need on the KiwiTaxi service at a fixed price. In this case, you will not need to look for taxi drivers at the airport, bargain with them and worry about possible deception and overpayment.
