Azerbaijani cuisine is considered one of the most delicious and at the same time healthy for human health. In Baku you can try a variety of meat dishes from poultry, lamb and beef, sturgeon and sevruga dishes, and many vegetable dishes generously seasoned with spices and herbs. In Azerbaijan, people have been cooking in copper dishes for a long time, and dishes in such dishes turn out much tastier.

In the historical part of the Old Town there is a restaurant “Karvansara”. The interior of the restaurant is imbued with the breath of antiquity; antique carpets, dishes in the national style and the ancient walls of the establishment seem to take visitors back to the past. Here you can taste national cuisine and enjoy live music. This restaurant serves excellent lamb shish kebab, dolma and pilaf. You can finish your meal with a variety of tea with amazingly delicious jam. The restaurant is located on Gala Street 11, open daily from 10:00 to 24:00.

The Fayton restaurant will greet you with a discreet interior in a strictly Azerbaijani style. Here you should try juicy kutabs with meat and herbs, lamb with dried apricots, lula and first courses. For fish lovers, I definitely recommend syrdag, a dish prepared from vegetables and fish, with cherry plum and spices. The restaurant is located on Rashid Behbudov Street 17, open daily from 10:00 to 23:00.

In the romantic restaurant “Old city” you can try levengi, fried lamb, fish in pomegranate juice with onions, various soups and kebabs. The restaurant is located on Vusal Mammedov Street 24, open daily from 12:00 to 23:30.

It’s nice to sit on the summer terrace of the Pencere restaurant in the summer heat. Here you can try dishes of European and Azerbaijani cuisine. I recommend trying chicken baked in tendir, kebabs and flour dishes gyurza, khingal and dushbere. The restaurant is located on A. Shaig Street 245, open daily from 10:00 until the last customer.

In the city center on Alizade Street, next to the old department store, there is the Arishta cafe, which is very popular among local residents, where students and local residents dine. Here, at affordable prices, you can try Azerbaijani soups bozbash and piti, various kebabs, pilaf, dolma and Azerbaijani dumplings dushbara. The cafe is open daily from 9:00 to 23:00.

I recommend having breakfast at the Tendir cafe, which is located next to the Old Gates Hotel, in a wooden gazebo right next to the gate leading from the Governor’s Garden to the Old Town. Here you can taste the most delicious tea in the city, fragrant kutabs and a variety of cheese.
